American Idle

I may talk about the American Idol Album Odds on the radio, so I'm getting them down here to keep track of them. Just one more example of how doing radio is killing this blog, at least for now. For the record, I have no idea who any of these guys are. I'm torn between maintaining my ignorance, and finding out about them from my wife.

Which American Idol 8 star's first album will debut highest on the Billboard Top 200 charts?
Debut will be first week that it appears on the Billboard list. If two or more tie for highest debut then all wagers will be no action.

Kris Allen 5/6
Adam Lambert 10/11
Danny Gokey 8/1

I think being dismissive of them is a good technique, as well as how I really feel. I listened to old sports talk guys on WEEI go on about the Grateful Dead back in about '94, as well as Howie Carr going on about Kurt Cobain after he died (though not quite as cluelessly). They sort of beat their ignorance into the ground, but I guess you need to ride these things when you have 2 or 3 hours to talk. They kept cueing the same Dead intro, maybe the beginning of Box of Rain. They were pretty amusing, and demonstrated that willful ignorance can be amusing, played correctly.

I guess I'm going to go for the same sort of willful ignorance. I'm pretty sure Mac Daddy will be on board with that. Beats the hell out of getting up to speed on these douchebags.

Hasn't bodog missed the boat here, though? Who cares about the Billboard Top 200 charts? This is the age of music piracy, no? My instinct is to find out which one of these clowns has the biggest appeal to teenage girls. There is alot of music out there whose existence can only be explained by it's appeal to teenage (and preteen) girls. Of course, I can't assume that this demographic is dumb enough to not download music off the internet, just because they are utterly lacking in taste. The young are nothing if not tech savy.
