Preakness Tomorrow/Celts Choke Again

I'm going to the Preakness in the morning. I don't see myself doing alot of betting, since Big Brown is a HUGE favorite (1-9, apparently). The Kentucky Derby winner tends to do well in the Preakness before choking in the Belmont. Unfortunately everybody already knows this.

Meanwhile Boston choked again in game six vs. Cleveland, and my pick of Detroit to win the East looks more and more plausible. Right now the big fear is that the Cavs win, and then LeBron goes on a rampage like he did last year against the Pistons....

I Take Pistons to win East

I just got some $$ down on the Pistons at 9-4 to win the east. I wanted to get them at 5-2, but bodog closed their site to action whle they made adjustments. It bugs me when they do this, since it prevents me from getting the deal I want, but I also suspect that they are costing themselves money when they do this, since they are definitely costing themselves action. I know I've missed a few bets when I had to keep checking to see if

a. they were open or not

and

b. if I could still get decent odds

Since they shut down the action in order to adjust the odds, usually any opportunities presenting themselves had passed. It makes me wonder if money floods in for one or two teams so strongly that they are afraid of losing their asses. Right now the Celtics are heavy favorites to win the East, and the NBA Finals, at 1-2 and 5-4 respectively. The only team that has odds remotely as short as Boston is the Lakers, at 1-1 for the West, and 9-4 for the Championship. If money was flooding in on other teams this would be evident in the odds. Bodog's odds are already tend to be tighter than other sites, so I suspect they would be fine if they left their sportsbook open a bit more.

I wonder if sites like Bet24 and bet365 stay open more of the time because they consider their names to be a promise of continual action....maybe instead of bodoglife.com they shoulda changed their site to bodog24/7 or something, not that they would then follow through or any thing like that, the weasels.

I've considered the Celtics to be the favvorite in the east, but from what I've seen the Pistons have their number. In the end, I figure the Celts will probably win in 7, but having said that, I don't think they should be considered 4.5-1 favorites against the Pistons, which is what the odds numbers seem to be suggesting. Does this make me a homer? Maybe.

The only other futures wager I've made lately was taking the Mets for the NL Pennant at 5-1. I got that bet down right after they got Johann Santanna from the Twins, figuring that their odds would tighten up after that, unless they completely tank this season that is.

I'm considering the Cardnails for the NL Pennant at 12-1. A few days ago bodog had them at 14-1, and right now bet365 has them at 10-1, so it looks like the Cards odds will tighten up soon as well....

I just took the Cardinals. In case you're wondering, the 1st place Diamondbacks are currently 4-1, the Mets are 9-4, and the Cubs are 5-1. Last time I took the Cardinals to win the Pennant the Cubs were the favorite, and the Astros and Dodgers were next according to the odds. The Dodgers are currently 10-1, by the way. The Astros are 25-1, if anybody cares.
