Has our hero hit rock bottom? He is hoping that his online sportsbook/poker accounts have hit bottom, but you can always go lower....They say that you have to hit rock bottom before you get help for an addiction, but if the addiction is profitable...

Holy Crap! College Football Season!

Shit! College Football season has snuck up on me, but not so fast that I haven't managed to throw down on some games. At this point nobody really knows how good these teams will be, and my suspicion is that the lines may be a bit conservative opening week. I therefore am taking favorites, and hoping that the lines are bargains relative to what we will see later in the season. With that in mind, here are my picks.

bostoncollege(-11.5)over CENTRALMICHIGAN
OHIOSTATE(-17)over northernillinois
notredame(-7)over GEORGIATECH
southerncal(-8.5)over ARKANSAS

I'm not thrilled about giving up this much on the road, but at the same time I can see them being bigger, so what the heck.

Tigers, roQQ down, Dem Bums up

Just took 9th out of 115 in a $10 NL Rebuy tourney on pokerroom.com. Only won $42, which, since I rebought and added on, gave me a mere $12 profit. My kk got busted by aj when an ace flopped, and a jack came on the river. Since I was playing in their $10,000 guaranteed tourney at the same time, which cost $20 to enter, and finished 251st out of 870, I lost $8 between them. Meanwhile, my bet365 account is down to about $2000, in part because I withdrew $500 to use on other sites. I put $300 on doylesroom, and lost my way down to about $100. I'm back up to about $160 playing sit-n-go's. My recent downturn seems to have coincided with the Tigers' current cold streak. Hmmmm.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers have been on an absolute tear, giving me a shot to win money on the NL pennant for the 3rd year in a row. The other big factor in the NL race is Tom Glavine's apparently season ending injury. This is horrible for the Mets, and I think for baseball in general, but could be good for the Dodgers and my pocketbook. Since I am convinced that whoever wins the NL pennant is doomed in the World Series, I just may find myself rooting against the Mets and for the Dodgers (or Astros, lol). The Dodgers could make me money, and I'd rather see them lose in 4 or 5 than the Mets.
